Entry Fees to the Village

A fee of Rs 10 is charged to visitors when entering the village and its surrounding areas. However, children under 8 years of age are exempt from this fee. If you arrive by a four-wheeler, the parking fee will be Rs. 20, whereas for two-wheelers, it is Rs. 10. Besides these charges, there is a picnic fee of Rs. 100. In addition to these fees, there is a picnic fee of Rs. 100. Other charges, such as video camera usage, movie shooting, and bus parking, may also apply. All of these fees are listed on a board that is located near the guest house.

Accommodations in Mawphanlur

The only place to stay is the Mawphanlur Traveller’s Nest. Mawphanlur Traveller’s Nest is under the management of a cooperative and is located on a hilltop, with two rooms available and four ponds/lakes surrounding the area. The view from the property is drool-worthy, with a nip in the air that is a beautiful assault to your senses. On weekdays, the place is relatively quiet with few travelers and tourists, but Saturdays can be a bit uncertain. The cost per night for the room is Rs 1500/-.

How to Reach

Mawphanlur is situated approximately 71 km from the state capital, Shillong. The closest airport is Shillong Airport, which is about 100 km away from the village. The nearest railway station is Guwahati railway station, which is roughly 162 km away from Mawphanlur.

The most convenient way to reach Mawphanlur is by road. You can either hire a taxi or take a bus from Shillong to the village. The drive is picturesque, and you will be able to admire the scenic landscapes and rolling hills along the way.
